Playgroup in the Garden
Every Thursday during school terms, 10am-12pm
Little ones and their carers are invited to come gather in the garden for a wonderful nature play and food growing experience.
This is a very casual playgroup where little ones are encouraged to follow their hearts. Kids usually love watering plants, harvesting and eating vegetables, planting seedlings, looking for bugs, digging soil, sensory play, making art with plant pigments, and using all our senses to observe changes in the garden week to week.
Important note: Please be prepared for all weather! We will go ahead if there is light or off-on rain. Please wear sturdy shoes (gumboots are a great choice!) and appropriately warm/waterproof/sun-protective clothing.
Please bring: a water bottle and snack for yourself/your child, and some gardening gloves if you have some.
Playgroup in the Garden is run by volunteers and proudly supported by the Fawkner Food Bowls community. Please come along on Sunday mornings for gardening and socialising.

FAQs

Playgroup is here to help families have fun, relax and build friendships. At this playgroup, we provide a range of natural materials for children to play with freely and also do some gardening activities. For example, one week we might harvest carrots, another we might plant peas. We sometimes also do art activities like mixing our own paint made from flower petals, or cooking activities like making garlic bread with garlic herbs that we grew. It is a casual atmosphere and we are always happy for children to choose what they want to do.

The activities are suitable for kids 18 months and older, but we do have babies who come along as well. Playgroup is not just for kids! Parents/carers have a great opportunity to meet other adults in a beautiful space.
